Cecil Night in Annapolis 2026

A Resounding Success for Cecil County's Business Community

Hello, fellow Chamber members! If you weren't able to join us in Annapolis on January 15, 2026, let me assure you—it was an evening that truly embodied the spirit of Cecil County. Hosted by your Cecil County Chamber of Commerce, Cecil Night in Annapolis kicked off the Maryland General Assembly session with a perfect blend of networking, advocacy, and celebration. As your strategic partner in growth, we're proud to report that this signature event was a tremendous success, fostering connections that will propel our local economy forward.

The day began with an informative afternoon session at the Miller Senate Building, where attendees dove into key legislative discussions. This set the stage for the evening reception at the historic Calvert House, a venue that captured the charm and character of the evening. Over 200 participants, including Chamber members, state legislators, business leaders, and influential figures from across Maryland, gathered to enjoy local flavors.

One of the highlights was the panel on energy, featuring insightful speakers like Delegate David Fraser-Hidalgo, Senate Chair Brian Feldman, Delegate Steve Arentz, and Delegate Jay Jacobs. They delved into Maryland's energy reliability challenges, emphasizing the need for a balanced, all-of-the-above approach that supports economic growth without burdensome new taxes. Speaker of the House Joseline Peña-Melnyk, also addressed the crowd, setting the tone for what to expect during the legislative session. These conversations weren't just talk—they sparked real dialogue on how we can advocate for policies that protect our businesses and ensure affordable, reliable energy.

Beyond the speeches, the event was alive with networking opportunities. Members mingled, forging partnerships and sharing ideas amid the energetic atmosphere. Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive: attendees like Yvette from CHEP noted the networking opportunities were “invaluable”.

This success underscores our Chamber's commitment to advocacy and community. By bringing together decision-makers and local entrepreneurs, we strengthened our position on key issues like fiscal responsibility and energy policy. If you missed it, mark your calendars for next year—it's an investment in your business's future. Stay tuned for our Legislative Wrap-Up Breakfast in April, where we'll debrief on session outcomes. Together, we're building a resilient Cecil County. Let's keep the momentum going!
